Out of the Box: Surprised by Prayer
There is power when God’s people pray, doing more than we could imagine or think.  When the church joined in prayer at the imprisonment of Peter, God showed up in a way that the church did not expect.  They were more than just a little surprised.  Was it because they did not believe God would answer their prayers, or was it that He answered their prayers in a way they did not expect?  Did they lack faith or did God give them more than they were asking?

Acts 12:1-19

Out of the Box: The Power of Servanthood
The Scriptures champion, as of extreme value, simple acts of service in the name of Jesus.  We are called to love, serve and sacrifice on behalf of others.  Jesus Himself, came as a servant and we are to follow in His steps.   We are to use our gifts as faithful stewards for the benefit of others.  To that end, "what" you do matters, but the power of what you do is in the "how" and the "why".  That is what we learn by looking at the life of Tabitha (Dorcas), a selfless, unsung heroine of the early church.

Out of the Box: You’ve Got to be Kidding!
God uses all kinds of people as servants in His Kingdom.  He often uses, in most profound ways, those we would least expect, even to the point of utter amazement.  Our initial response to these unexpected servants is, "You've got to be kidding!"  Saul, the terrorist and persecutor of the church was just such a transformed person.

Out of the Box: What’s Your Question?
We learn by asking questions.  When it comes to reaching wider with the Gospel in evangelism we need to learn to listen well and ask the right questions.  We also need to be able to answer honest and legitimate questions people may have and help them connect the dots of Scripture on their journey to faith.  Philip gives us a good example of what that looks like in his encounter with an Ethiopian eunuch.

Out of the Box: Not For Sale
There have always been individuals who will exploit the Gospel, or anything for that matter, for personal gain or profit.  But the Gospel is not for sale.  The Holy Spirit is not for sale.  The apostles were confronted with just such an individual in the city of Samaria following the preaching of Philip.  When he witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit and how it was imparted through the apostles he sought to get in on the action.  It was then he learned a lesson we all need to be reminded of.  God cannot be bought.

    OUT OF THE BOX: Scattered
Persecution forced the church out of the box.  Faithfulness is not always comfortable.  Obedience is not always easy.  It sometimes takes extreme measures to get the church to move.
